What? You say you don’t have any fans? I bet you do!

But let’s find you some more, shall we?

Your potential fans are just waiting to discover you and your stories! But first, you have to know who they are!

If you don’t know who your fans are, start with your genre’s fans. (I hope you know what genre you’re writing in, and if not, go figure that out and come back. I’ll wait!)

  1. What is the typical age range of your genre’s readers?
  2. Are most readers of the genre male or female?
  3. Are those readers also fans of certain TV shows, games, movies, etc.?
  4. Do those readers have similar hobbies? i.e., cooking, RPG, going to museums, archeology, science?
  5. What social media are they on?

EXAMPLES: (Please note! This are my wild guesses and you should do your own research!).

Thriller: 1) 30-50 2) male 3) Jack Reacher 4) football, barbecuing 5) Facebook

Fantasy: 1) 16-25 2) female 3) Shadow and Bone, Divergent 4) Music, gaming 5) TikTok

Now, talk to your readers about what you have in common wherever you find them!
