Do you want more subscribers and followers? I’m going to assume the answer is yes!

Do you make it easy for readers to find you? To sign up? To follow you? (Okay, not so easy that a cat can sign up–unless you’re expecting cats to be big fans of your next shifter romance–who am I to judge?)

If you have a website, how many clicks does it take to sign up for your newsletter? If you visit karensuewalker.com, you will find a sign-up right in the middle of my home page. Why? Because that is the main reason I have a website!

  • If you have a website, is your newsletter signup easy to find? I mean, really easy?
  • Do you have a signup link in the back of every book? (Or a link to your website with a signup form front and center?)
  • Do. you post a signup link on your Facebook author page once a month or so? (Oops! I need to do that). You can post it on other social media as well, if you know where your readers are.
  • Do you have a signup link in your email signature?

If you haven’t started an email list yet, the above suggestions would work for social media links. My readers (mostly seniors) aren’t big on social media, so I rely on my newsletter to connect with them.

And don’t forget to make it compelling–remember your brand (how you make readers feel). “Sign up for my cozy mystery newsletter and get lots of fun stories, recipes, and bonuses!” or “Sign up for my Alien Romance Reader Newsletter for goose-bump inducing stories of extraterrestrial hookups that always end with a ‘happy for now’ ending!”
